Overview

The Kennickell Group’s client provides technology that has revolutionized the work process to a variety of worldwide industries maximizing productivity and augmenting profitability.

Over the past 30 years, the company’s unique offerings have been transforming business in over 100 countries. Coupled with an extensive international network of dealers and channel partners, Kennickell’s client employs more than 5,000 people in over 20 locations around the globe.

To satisfy increased demand for multilingual marketing collateral, the company was in search of a cost-effective print and fulfillment company capable of providing timely worldwide distribution and real-time content management solutions.

Business Situation

While functional and previously adequate, the prior vendor’s online storefront lacked the flexibility and capabilities that was determined imperative to successfully compete in a global market environment. The issues included:

• The storefront’s user experience was limited to a single generic view, and did not capture shipping information for return visitors.

• Tracking numbers were not automatically provided when orders were shipped.

• Charge back codes and billing channel partners directly was a problem.

• Timing to add, delete, or make changes to storefront items took approximately a month.

• Monthly reporting often resulted in out-of-stock inventory issues.

• Reports did not include who was ordering materials and where they were shipped.

Business Requirements

To satisfy current business development needs and future projections, the company invited a select group of print and fulfillment providers from around the world to participate in an RFP. The RFP’s focus was on innovative capabilities, timeliness, and cost control.

The Kennickell Group was one of the companies chosen to participate. Earning high marks throughout the investigative process, Kennickell was awarded the contract with the confidence that they were capable of:

• Producing marketing materials in multiple languages without dramatically impacting established print and fulfillment budgets.

• Reducing shipping times and minimizing the hassles previously experienced with Customs Officials.

• Billing channel partners directly for items they order in worldwide locations.

• Controlling printed material waste caused by company and technical specification changes.

• Minimizing managerial involvement in the print and fulfillment process.

Business Solutions

The storefront’s user experience was limited to a single generic view, and did not include shipping information for return visitors.

Kennickell developed a data-driven storefront with business rules that established material and quantity authorization guidelines, as well as variable pricing structures. By assigning unique passwords, the new storefront provides a custom site view and shipping information relevant to each individual visitor.

Tracking numbers were not automatically provided when orders were shipped.

Realizing the importance collateral material plays in an overall business development strategy, Kennickell’s proprietary system automatically sends email notifications with a tracking number link when an order has been shipped. The notification is sent to the individual making the request, and to the company’s designated customer service representatives.

Charge back codes and billing channel partners directly was a problem.

Kennickell is a PCI-PA/DSS certified company and implementing a system to bill channel partners directly through the online portal was a simple fix to their problem. Charge back codes for dealers were also handled through the system generating a unique number. Each user was linked to a specific department and streamlined the accounting process.

Timing to add, delete, or make changes to storefront items took approximately a month.

Through Kennickell’s proprietary online software, authorized personnel now have the ability to add, delete, and make changes to storefront materials in real-time 24-hours a day.

Monthly reporting often resulted in out-of-stock inventory issues.

The company’s authorized personnel are able to check inventory levels and manage various fulfillment related activities 24 hours a day. To ensure that minimum inventory levels are maintained, custom business rules have been implemented that automatically sends an email when items approach predetermined minimums. A follow-up alert is also generated when an inventory item has reached out-of-stock status.

Reports did not include who was ordering materials and where they were shipped.

Kennickell’s online software leaves nothing to the imagination. From who ordered materials and what they ordered to quantity and shipping information – the real-time reporting component provides a snapshot of all warehouse inventory activity.

Producing marketing materials in multiple languages without dramatically impacting established print and fulfillment budgets.

A digital library was created to house specific collateral materials. Through the use of variable data digital print technology, items are printed in the language requested through Kennickell’s Global Print Network on an as needed basis.

All international print on demand orders are printed directly through our network partners. This is seamless to the end user, which greatly increased the speed to market while at the same time reducing shipping costs.

Reducing shipping times and minimizing the hassles previously experienced with Customs Officials.

To expedite the fulfillment process, Kennickell has formed strategic partnerships with companies that share similar digital print and warehouse capabilities. Centrally located around the world – they receive, warehouse, and distribute collateral material under Kennickell’s supervision and direction.

Controlling printed material waste caused by company and technical specification changes.

The same digital library where multilingual collateral materials reside is also home to files identified as most likely to change. When notification of a change is received, a replacement file is generated and made available for on-demand digital printing when needed.

Minimizing managerial involvement in the print and fulfillment process.

Realizing the bottom-line demands of management and key personnel, Kennickell’s Fulfillment System was designed to be 100% turnkey. Through the development of company specific business rules, extensive automation, and real-time reporting and extensive automation what previously required extensive management interaction, in most instances can now be accomplished with just a few keystrokes.
